Luminesca
Australia's only full time cello and guitar duo. Their dynamic performances have been received by audiences across Australia with standing ovations and unparalleled enthusiasm. The combination of cello and guitar is a uniquely satisfying and beautiful experience, enhanced by the duo's own arrangements of a broad range of music.
Since its inception the duo has performed to capacity audiences at Brisbane Powerhouse, Hobart's Federation Hall, Sydney's Seymour Centre, across Australia for ABC Classic Fm, and many festivals. They are listed by Musica Viva for the Countrywide touring program, and will release their debut cd in 2007.
The Luminesca show is an engaging presentation of some of the world's fieriest and most sublime music, arranged exclusively for the duo. The duo's performances are characterised by humour, and engaging report with the audience. The ad lib report between the players and audience creates a friendly, relaxed and intimate experience to complement the music.
Their repertoire explores a wide range of music ranging from Bach, Kapsberger and Caccini, to dreamy French classics by Debussy and Ravel, cooled by eclectic and rhythmically entertaining modern Eastern European works by Ourkouzounov and Bogdanovic, and spiced by Spanish works of De Falla, Granados, di Milano. Alongside these are popular contemporary arrangements of Jewel and Lennon/McCartney.
In 2007 Luminesca will feature at the Camden Haven Music Festival in NSW, the Dunkeld Music Festival in Victoria, the Darwin International Guitar Festival, the Sandgate Festival in QLD, and across Australia on 4 major tours. They also plan to commission works by Australian composers Ross Edwards and Phillip Houghton.
