Russian born pianist Konstantin Shamray launched his international musical career in 2008 as the Winner of the Sydney International Piano Competition, the first competitor in the history of the competition to win both First Prize, People’s Choice Prize and six other prizes. He has also won several other international piano competitions including the 2011 Klavier Olympiade in Bad Kissingen, Germany. He has performed with renowned orchestras such as Sydney Symphony, Russian National Philharmonic and Prague Philharmonic. Konstantin has recorded for labels Abc-classics and Naxos. Siberia to Sydney is his first recording of works by an Australian composer.
National and international award winning composer, author and multi instrumentalist Peter Gelling draws from many genres in his works. Siberia to Sydney is his first foray into the world of “Classical” music, blending rhythms, tonalities and textures from such diverse sources as Blues, Jazz, New Orleans Funk, Australian and Jamaican Folk music, along with Indian and Middle Eastern influences.

Siberia to Sydney album launch
Music is often called a universal language and the album “Siberia to Sydney” is living proof. When compśser and performer first met, each spoke a different language but the musical communication needed no translation. Konstantin’s performances on this album demonstrate his mastery of a wide range of music from many different musical traditions.
